The herbal combination in Lian Shui Fluid activates Qi and xue, resolves stagnation and stasis, warms slightly and opens the channels. The fluid can thus be used for Qi and xue stagnation. It is also perfect for relaxing and remedial massages, as a liniment and bath additive. Lian Shui quickly absorbs into the skin and causes a feeling of freshness. The xue activating and moving group of herbs represent the bulk of the Lian Shui herbal composition. The particularly valuable and precious san qi (Notoginseng root Radix) has a rare double function. On the one hand, it stimulates the flow of xue, and on the other hand it stops xue loss. san leng (Sparganii Rhizoma) and e zhu (Curcumae Rhizoma) are typically used together and both are powerful in breaking xue stasis and moving xue. They are particularly effective in supporting healing and improving circulation. The frankincense ru xiang (Olibanum) and Sappanwood su mu (Sappan Lignum) also support this action of breaking xue stasis. Unlike the many warming elements in this formula, tiger grass ji xue cao (Centella Herba) is cold. It prevents a possible build-up of heat due to stagnation and also invigorates the xue. dang gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) not only nourishes the xue, contributing to the regeneration. In addition, du zhong (Eucommiae Cortex) strengthens and warms the affected areas. hai feng teng (Piperis Kadsurae Caulis) penetrates into the channels, warming them and relieving blockages caused by dampness. The dried ginger root gan jiang (Zingiberis Officinalis Rhizoma) is hot and acrid, and activates the movement of Qi and xue. bing pian (Borneolum) borneol is a powerfully aromatic substance and is added in very small amounts to intensify the opening and unblocking effects of the Lian Shui formulation.
